The Great Stalwarts of India.
January 9th, 200923 MARCH 1931 - Martyrdom Day Of INDIAN LIONS .We pay homage to these lions for their sacrifice for the independence of India.
-A message from my e mail friend.-
23 March 2008 . Do we remember whats so special about this date? Today is the 77th anniversary of martyrdom of Sardaar Bhagat Singh , Sukhdev & Raj Guru.
It was 23rd of March, 1931 when three heroes of India ( Bhagat Singh Ji , Rajguru Ji & Sukhdev Ji ) felt proud that they were sacrificing their life for their motherland !
Just wanted to remind that we people remember valentine, New Year, but often used to forget the contributions of our REBELS, who fought and gave their lives just for the sake of their next generation's freedom.
"Let us all salute the true LIONS of our Mother India for whom they climbed the gallows gladly"
JAI HIND

Savarkar
Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, commonly known as Swatantryaveer Savarkar was a fearless freedom fighter, social reformer, writer, dramatist, poet, historian, political leader and philosopher. He remains largely unknown to the masses because of the vicious propaganda against him and misunderstanding around him that has been created over several decades. This website attempts to bring the life, thought, actions and relevance of Savarkar before a global audience.
Veer Savarkar - A legend
The first political leader to daringly set Absolute Political Independence as India's goal (1900).
The first Indian political leader to daringly perform a bonfire of foreign (English) clothes (1905).
The first Indian to organize a revolutionary movement for India's Independence on an international level (1906).
The first Indian law student who was not called to the English Bar despite having passed his examination and observed the necessary formalities, for his activities to seek India's freedom from the British (1909).
The only Indian leader whose arrest in London caused legal difficulties for British Courts and whose case is still referred to in the interpretations of the Fugitive Offenders Act and the Habeas Corpus (Rex Vs Governor of Brixton Prison, ex-parte Savarkar)
The first Indian historian whose book on the 1857 War of Independence was proscribed by British Authorities in India even before its publication. The Governor General had asked the Postmaster General to confiscate copies of the book six months before the book was officially banned (1909).
The first political prisoner whose daring escape and arrest on French soil became a cause celebre in the International Court of Justice at The Hague. This case was mentioned in many International Treaties at that time (1910).
The first graduate whose degree was withdrawn by an Indian University for striving for India's freedom (1911).
The first poet in the world who, deprived of pen and paper, composed his poems and then wrote them on the prison walls with thorns and nails, memorized ten thousand lines of his poetry for years and later transmitted them to India through his fellow-prisoners who also memorized these lines.
The first revolutionary leader who within less than 10 years gave a death-blow to the practice of untouchability in the remote district of Ratnagiri while being interned there.
The first Indian leader who successfully started -
A Ganeshotsava open to all Hindus including ex-untouchables (1930).
Interdining ceremonies of all Hindus including ex-untouchables (1931).
"Patitpavan Mandir", open to all Hindus including ex-untouchables (22 February 1931).
A cafe open to all Hindus including ex-untouchables (01 May 1933).
The first political prisoner in the world who was sentenced to Transportation for Life twice, a sentence unparalled in the history of the British Empire.
The first political leader to embrace death voluntarily by way of Atma Samarpan in the highest tradition of Yoga (1966).
He passed away on 26th Feb.1966.
Saantvan (Consolation)
In 1909, Savarkar wrote a poetic letter of consolation from London to his dear sister-in-law Yesuvahini. She had earlier written to him expressing anguish at the arrest of Savarkar's youngest brother Narayanrao. Days earlier on 21 November 1909, the higher court had confirmed the prison sentence to Yesuvahini's own husband Babarao. Savarkar himself was in London. It was Yesuvahini who was single-handedly bearing the brunt of the Government's onslaught. This remarkable letter entitled Saantvan (Consolation) is a landmark in Marathi literature.
Savarkar wrote:
Saantvan
(1)
My loving salutations to thee, O my sister
Whose love hath so tenderly nursed me as to make me forget
The early loss of my mother.
Received your letter of blessing, have taken to heart what you hath written
Thy letter gladdened my heart and made me feel truly blessed,
Blessed indeed is this family of ours in as much as it is
Thus privileged to serve the Lord Ram and administer to his Will!
(2)
Many a flower blooms and withers away
Who has kept their count or note
But behold, the lotus flower that was plucked by Gajendra's trunk
And offered at the feet of Srihari and thus withered away there
Became immortal and holy effecting moksha (deliverance)
Thus is our Mother Bharat like the pious Gajendra seeking deliverance
Let her come to our garden and offer our dark blue black lotus flower
And pluck it from the bough to offer it at the feet of Sri Rama.
Blessed indeed is our family tree, definitely touched by the divine
In as much as it is privileged to serve Sri Rama
(3)
Let then the rest of our flowers too be plucked thus
And offered at the feet of Sri Rama
Let this mortal body be put to good use
Immortal is the family tree that has extinguished itself for the nation
Its fragrance of human welfare spreads all around
O Mother, weave a garland of all in bloom for the
Festival of the Nine Nights
Once the momentous Ninth Night passes
And the ninth garland is woven and offered
Kali the Terrible will reveal Herself
And grant Victory to her votaries
(4)
Sister! Thou hast ever been the symbol of courage,
the source of my inspiration.
Thou too art a consecrated and avowed votary to Ram's noble mission
Thy consecration to this great and noble cause
Calls upon thee to be great and noble thyself.
Behold! On one side stand watching the past souls of sages and saints
Of our race gone before and on the other side the
Future generations yet unborn!
May we be able to acquit ourselves today in a manner
As to evoke universal approval from these godly spectators
:rolleyes:India's first Field Marshal Sam Hormusji Framji Jamshedji Manekshaw,
who is credited with crafting the campaign that led to the creation
of Bangladesh after the 1971 war with Pakistan, passed away early on
Friday morning in Wellington in Tamil Nadu.
Manekshaw, 94, had been battling a series of old age-related
ailments. He breathed his last at the Military Hospital in
Wellington, where he settled down after retiring as the Army chief in
1973.
The Padma Vibhushan and Military Cross awardee, who was admitted in
the hospital for "progressive lung disease," had slipped into coma
and the end came just after midnight at 0030 hours IST, the Defence
Ministry said in a statement.
Manekshaw had developed "acute bronchopneumonia with associated
complications" and was placed under intensive care four days ago
after his condition became serious.
President Pratibha Patil condoled the death of the Field Marshal
along with Defence Minister A K Antony who said, "In his demise, the
nation has lost a great soldier, a true patriot and a noble son
My sincere tribute to him.
A great Indian Stalwart Swatantra Veer Savarkar [Vinayak Damodar Savarkar] was borne on 28th May 1883. He took his last breath on 26 the Feb.1966.His main aim was “self determination of the nation is a means and an end. This cause has been justly started for the up liftment of the Hindus.” In those days there was nothing like Hindus and Muslims. Therefore he had friends from all classes of society. Congress first divided the Indian Community during the freedom agitation. Gandhiji came to India in his age of 45 and till then he was practicing out side India. He was life convict and was in cellular jail for more than 20 years. He was kept in very inhumane conditions. He had to undergo rigorous imprisonment and placed in solitary confinement. Other fellow convicts were treated differently from him. They were released as and when they or relatives were not suffering from ill health but he was treated with cruelty.
On 8th July 1910 when he was taken to India by a ship and the ship when breathed at Marseilles [France], he wriggled out and swam a great distance. He had already informed the friends and Madame Cama of his plans and had asked them to reach at particular time but they failed to reach there and British Government recaptured him. Had they reached in time the history would have been different.
Literary he was a great litterateur, writer, author dramatist and novelist too. A publisher has published his literature in 8 big volumes that are worth preserving and worth to read and study. He was progressive leader and not a believer of superstitions or orthodox. What he said about cow is it is a useful animal and he did not believe the theory that cow is god. For Hindus god is not an idea of some superman but one who is worth respecting Thus this single example will make it clear how he was different from others.
The nameplate of Veer Samara was removed at the instance of Manishankar Ayer, the present Union Minister as he has averse for him. We Indians have habit of giving undue importance to few and to ignore and condemn others who were really martyrs. Perhaps this is because they were never vote catchers nor show case leaders nor caste based politicians.
On his birth anniversary we salute him and pay sincere respect and tributes to him. May he live long.

Dear Indianz ,
How many of us know that yesterday was the birth centenary of The Great Indian Revolutionary – Shri Chandra Shekhar `Azad'?
In this country where crores of rupees is spent on remembering Gandhis & Nehrus every year by government and `Fuddu Netas' congratulating their mentor on even meager electoral wins, no one actually remembers the real people behind our freedom.
Today all we youth do to show our patriotism is by saying – Mera Bharat Mahan, India is great, I love my India, East or west India is the best and the latest ` Rang de Basanti'. How many of us know that Azad attained his martyrdom at the age of 25 years? At this age the contemporary Indian youth is not able to decide his career.
Yesterday was Chandra shekhar Azad's birthday( 23rd July), please remember his persona and pay tribute to him. Please add inputs if you have about Shri Chandra Shekhar `Azad' and try to put this info in as many as Groups to support this cause.
(Some real life photos of Chandrashekhar Azad have been attached to this issue ..)

The great organizer of RSS in M.P. He was really a great stalwart of India. When Lal Bhadur Shastri gave call for Monday evening fast he immediately started the direction and till his death on 28th December 2003 he with all sincerity followed. He was again follower of Mahavir Swami who had given call for Aparigrah. Not to hoar money or matter. He lived as bachelor and died as such. He had with him only two Dhoti and two Kurtas and nothing more. When he died he had not a single coin in his possess. He was true worker of RSS and lived like Sanyasi in real sense. The RSS and BJP people should learn from his did how one can be of high integrity and honesty. He was born on Janma Asthami 1922.
For further details please go to google site type his name and get all details.

Chanakya (Sanskrit: चाणक्य Cāṇakya) (c. 350-283 BC) was an adviser and a prime minister to the first Maurya Emperor Chandragupta (c. 340-293 BC), and architect of his rise to power. Kautilya and Vishnugupta, the names by which the political treatise Arthaśhāstra identifies its author, are traditionally identified with Chanakya. Some scholars consider Chanakya to be "the pioneer economist of the world". He is known as "The Indian Machiavelli" in the Western world. Chanakya was a professor at Taxila University and is widely believed to be responsible for the first Indian empire. (Source: Wikipedia)
The legend-
· Chanakya was born with a complete set of teeth, a sign that he would become king, which is inappropriate for a Brahmin like Chanakya. Chāṇakya's teeth were therefore broken and it was prophesied that he will rule through another.
· The Nanda King throws Chānakya out of his court, prompting Chānakya to swear revenge.
· Chānakya searches for one worthy for him to rule through. Chānakya encounters a young Chandragupta Maurya who is a born leader even as a child.
· Chānakya's initial attempt to overthrow Nanda fails, whereupon he comes across a mother scolding her child for burning himself by eating from the middle of a bun or bowl of porridge rather than the cooler edge. Chāṇakya realizes his initial strategic error and, instead of attacking the heart of Nanda territory, slowly chips away at its edges.
· Chānakya changed his alliance with the mountain king Parvata due to his obstinance and non adherence to the principles of treaty as agreed .
· Chānakya enlists the services of a fanatical weaver to rid the kingdom of rebels.
· Chānakya adds poison to the food eaten by Chandragupta, now king, in order to make him immune. Unaware, Chandragupta feeds some of his food to his queen, who is in her ninth month of pregnancy. In order to save the heir to the throne, Chānakya cuts the queen open and extracts the fetus, who is named Bindusāra because he was touched by a drop (bindu) of blood or of poison.
· Chānakya's political rivalry with Subandhu leads to his death.
we are celebrating the birth day of Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan on 5th September as Teachers Day. He was born in 1888 and lived his life up to 1975. A well known ambassador,Vice president and the president of India. In addition to other works he wrote books on philosophy also. His important contribution to literature is like this. The titles of books are like this.
1. An Idealist View of Life.
2. The Hindu View of Life.
3. The Principal Upanishads.
4. The concept of Man.
5. Recovery of faith.
In his work on The Hindu Vie of Life he on page 54 writes like this :-
"The Bhagvat Geeta asks us to raise the self by the self. We can use the material with which we are endowed to promote our ideals. The cards in the game of life are given to us. We do not select them. They are traced to our past Karma[the acts which we did];but we can call as please, lead what suit we will, and as we play, we gain or lose. And there is freedom." The great philosophical person who was most uncontroversial and above Bord. We bow before him and pay our heart felt tributes.
 Salute to the legend
CHHATRAPATI SHIVAJI MAHARAJ - THE LEGEND
He founded the Hindu kingdom in the Deccan against all odds , fighting against the mighty Mughals. He inspired and united the common man to fight against the tyranny of Mughal ruler Aurangjeb, by inculcating a sense of pride and nationality in them.
At the age of 16, he took a pledge to establish a sovereign Hindu state. He clearly outstands all the rulers and generals of India by the exemplary life he lived and is thus respected by the entire cross section of Indians. Shivaji's military skills could be compared to those of Napolean.
He raised a strong army and navy, constructed and repaired forts, used gureilla warfare tactics, developed a strong intelligence network, gave equal treatment to the people from all religions and castes based on merit, and functioned like a seasoned Statesman and General. He appointed ministers with specific functions such as Internal security,Foreign affairs,Finance,Law and Justice,Religious matters,Defence etc.
He introduced systems in revenue collection and warned the officials against harassment of subjects. He thought ahead of times and was a true visionary. In his private life, his moral virtues were exceptionally high. His thoughts and deeds were inspired by the teachings of his mother Jijabai, teacher Dadaji Konddev, great saints like Dnyaneshwar & Tukaram and the valiancy and ideals of the Lords Rama and Krishna.
The tiny kingdom established by Chhatrapati Shivaji known as "Hindavi Swaraja" (Sovereign Hindu state) grew and spread beyond Attock in Northwest India (now in Pakistan)and beyond Cuttack in East India in course of time, to become the strongest power in India. After the death of Chhatrapati Shivaji & his son Sambhaji, their prime ministers or ‘the Peshwas' became the defacto rulers. The Peshwas and the Maratha Sardars (Chieftans) like Shindes of Gwalior, Gaekwads of Baroda & Holkars of Indore contributed to the growth of the Maratha Confederacy.
The history of India is incomplete without the history of Marathas and Shivaji is the nucleus of Maratha history. Shivaji has been a source of inspiration and pride to the past generations and will continue to inspire generations in future. We salute this legend and humbly dedicate this website to him.
