Can I bake brownies with M & s in the batter?
March 12th, 2010Double Decker M&M Brownies
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour, divided use
2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
3/4 teaspoon salt
12 tablespoons cup unsalted butter
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
3 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 tablespoon butter or margarine, melted
2/3 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (I used Ghirardelli 58% chocolate disk/chips)
1/2 cup colored M&Mâ ™s
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Line a 13×9 inch metal baking pan with foil and spray foil with cooking spray.
Mix 2 1/4 cups flour, baking powder and salt together in a bowl and set aside.
Cream butter and both sugars until light and fluffy; beat in vanilla and eggs. Add flour mixture and stir well. Divide batter in half.
Blend together cocoa powder and melted butter; stir into half of the dough along with about half of the chocolate chips; spread evenly into prepared baking pan.
To the remaining dough, stir in remaining 1/4 cup flour and 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips; spread evenly over cocoa dough in pan. Sprinkle top with M&Mâ ™S.
Bake 32-38 minutes or until edges start to pull away from sides of pan. Cool completely. Cut into bars. Store in tightly covered container.
MAKES 24 BARS.
Hope this helps.
Then invite me over :)
