Am looking to change the stereo in my car to one which I can use my ipod with. I would still like to be able to use my control panel on the steering wheel to be able to operate the stereo. How do I know which stereos would be compatible with this?best bet is asking the retailer of the stereos (somewhere like halfords)most stereos are remote ready all you need is the correct adaptor wiringI believe they are all of a standard size. But I do recall a car I had some years ago, and I think it was a Focus, that needed an extra masking plate. It was only about another £5 but its all about the wiring. Get a pro to wire it up. Halfords are pretty good with this sort of thing. This is the important part to connecting your steering wheel controls.look on the internetSave yourself a lot of money and buy an adaptor. You can get them from www.incarexpress.co.uk and places like that for about £30. You can also get ones that allow you to control the ipod, but they are dearer. You remove the stereo (you need a special tool to do this) and plug a cable into the CD changer plug on the back of the stereo (assuming you don't have a CD changer plugged into it already). Then the cable can be routed to the glovebox or the back of a compartment on the dash.
Otherwise, you can buy pretty much any stereo, but you'll need a blanking plate, wiring adaptor and remote control adaptor.#If you have any other info about this subject , Please add it free.# |
