he is 3 and has always gone to bed great. he never cryed or pitchd a fit up until recently. Every day for the past week it takes us an hour to finally get him to go to sleep. my husband and I are running out of patience. Is there something we can try?? You could try sitting or lying with him until he falls asleep. You can try using a nightlight because sometimes when kids are small they develop a fear of darkness very quickly. Lastly, you could try reading or singing the child to sleep, that helps sometimes.
Hope this helps.I don't know if you would want to try this, but I have done this with my son for well over a year and he is 4. We have a bedtime routine, and I read him a few books or so,which he loves. He then picks out 3 books to take to bed with him. Then he lays there and looks at the books until he falls asleep. Of course I leave the light on for him. He went through a period where he wanted the light on anyway, and I had told him I would turn it off when he fell asleep. It has worked great for us. I eventually go in, and put the books back on his shelf and turn off the light. Some nights he is out really quick, and other nights I will hear him pretending to read, and now that he knows some books from repetition he is remembering some of the pages. He enjoys his alone time with his books, and it usually doesn't take long before he falls asleep. Maybe it's something worth trying with your son. Good Luck. maybe get a night light for him, play soft music and continually send him to bed never let up... it get fustrating but consistancy is the best teacher.put him to bed a hour later, he may not be ready to sleep yet. I e=remember my mom making me go to bed when I wasn't tired. that was terrible. now I have insomnia.give him a extra hour to play or look at books with him. love him they grow soooooooooo fast.i remember being the same way when i was that age.... my mom picked up one of those tents that you set up right over top of the bed...made me feel like i was in a fort, it was bada**. i dunno how much theyare, but if they're cheap, give it a whiirrl#If you have any other info about this subject , Please add it free.# |
