Can msn messenger be connected to firefox instead of IE?

can msn be connected to the firefox network instead of IE?

Im having problems with my msn and im beginning to think its because of IE which worls from time to time, though its rare. Is it possible for msn to be connected to the firfox....will that stop the errors i keep getting every time i sign in?

im connected as all my other messengers aer owrking. when i click the troubleshoot button it says the key ports dont work and i should change firewall settings. my msn worked before and it suddenly stopped working and the firewall has nothing against the msn. i cant go anywhere near msn.com or hotmail and what not. what can i do!?!?
