I am putting together a private offering on a small slate of indie
films.
The attorney I've retained has suggested casting a wide net prior to
the offering for legal reasons. I need to source some lists for
"qualified investors" who have expressed an interest in independent
motion picture investments.
Lists should include complete contact info, including e-mail and
phone/fax.
Quality better than quantity. This is a duplicate question - you should contact the Google Answer
editors to have it removed.I only see one side of the screen, so I'm not aware of how you guys
see these. I wanted to see if selecting other criteria (Entertainment
vs. Business) attracted a different pool of research collaborators.
I got one bite under the other listing.
If it doesn't, I'll take your advice.
Thanks.
GreggHi Duncan,
This is probably a long shot, but I know of another company doing a
similar thing - they've put together a group of relatively small
investors, made and/or licensed some inexpensive films, and set out to
become the next Miramax. They might just make it. I hope so because
I'm one of their investors. And it does appear that their efforts over
the last three years are beginning to bear fruit.
The long shot is, I thought I might give my contact at the company,
with whom I've already talked at length just this week, a call to see
if he would be at all willing to talk with you and share ideas.
Obviously, he may well consider that a ridiculous competitive faux pas
and laugh in my face, but it could be worth a try. What the heck, you
guys might even develop business interests in common...
Would such a contact, if pre-qualified by me, constitute a sufficient
answer? Frankly, I don't know any other place to get the kind of
specific information you're seeking.
ericynot-gaIt sounds reasonable to me. See what they say.
I can provide some bona fides if they can.
Thanks...I don't actually need clarification from you - I just posted here so
Google would send you an email alerting you I had posted something. I
haven't yet been able to catch my guy in his office, but will keep
after him, and will alert you one way or the other as to what I find
out. I'm hoping to pin him down today for sure.
Thanks for your patience,
ericynot-gaHi again duncan_idaho-ga,
I spoke this afternoon with Andrew Van Slee, President of
Extraordinary Films. E-Films is in the business of making and
distributing worldwide quality, tightly-budgeted films. So far, they
have completed two: "Totally Blonde", a comedy that is now beginning
to pay back its investors and a second, "Netgames", starring C. Thomas
Howell, that was completed just before Christmas. They are scheduled
to begin shooting a third in early April. They also have arrangements
to market some movies produced by other companies.
Mr. Van Slee is a talented, ambitious guy (he writes, directs,
co-produces, markets domestically and overseas, and even writes music
for his company's movies), and said he'd be willing to discuss ideas
with you. Just how much he's willing to share I can't say, but he's
been in the trenches with his own company for two or three years and
seems to be having some success, both in finding investment funding,
and in turning that money into marketable films.
In talking with him today (we chatted for quite some time before I
mentioned the actual reason for my call, which was to ask about your
request), it was clear that he knows more than a little about the
industry and what is workable in the current international political
climate. He is also a personable guy who's good with industry people
as well as investors, and has a well-developed business acumen. He
could potentially be quite useful to you. When you call, mention that
you got his name through the Google Answers process - he'll be
expecting you.
