Iphone and storing movies?

Ive just put a film on my iphone and ive noticed that it takes up alot of space. however, i have the choice to select whether i want the use of chapters on my iphone. for one film i removed this function to see if it made much difference but form what i can see it didnt although im unsure. does the ability to choose chapters on the iphone take up that much extra memory or is it worth having them on there. If not in what ways can i make my movies take up less space, i.e. settings for the dvd converter
