How do I fix my lighter hair roots?

March 16th, 2010
  • Well I've never done a stuff up with dying my hair at home but there's always gotta be a first time.
About 6 months ago I dyed my Medium brown hair to a chocolate and it went way darker than I wanted. A week ago I used to packs of prelightener to get rid of the dye. (my hair is very long and thick) but I dyed my roots first which was a no no and of course my roots ended up being completely lighter than the ends. (about 1/6) So silly me went and bought 2 packs of loreal ultra lightening light brown and I did the ends first and the roots last. The roots turned out a little darker but still not a match..

What I am wanting to know it how can I fix this myself without going to a salon.. Because the loreal was a lightening brown could I try another pack on just my roots? or will that lighten them again.. Eccckk or do I go buy just 2 packs of a darker brown and dye on top of it all? I really didn't wanna go any darker though.

  • Get the light brown again, and just color your roots. Leave the product on for 30 minutes, then apply the rest of the color on the previously colored hair and let process for another 10 minutes. Shampoo, condition, and you're done. If this doesn't work, go to the salon.
