Why do some Christians feel the need to be apologist for atheist?

    and if i see another mormon ride his bike up to my driveway with a paper that says "do you know the truth?" i'm gonna throw eggs at him.

    everyone is an athiest, there are too many people in this world who are close-minded about other religions.

    There should be no such thing as religion, it just causes problems..

  • Seems most of the answerers so far are assuming that your question is referring to Christians apologizing for the beliefs of atheism... but the definition of "apologist" is someone who defends something in speaking or writing". A Christian Apologist is a Christian who speaks or writes in defense of Christianity. So I assume you're asking why Christians feel they need to defend Christianity to atheists.

    If that's the question you're asking then it's usually because they either want to "save" the atheist, or else they are trying to convince themselves that they believe it.

  • First off, your question is fallicious - a loaded question.

    Maybe they recognize that rationality and common sense are things to not shy away from?

    The truth is, everyone is atheist. Christians are atheist towards the Hindu gods. Hindus don't believe in the Christian gods, so everyone lacks one belief or another.

    Furthermore, most Christians don't really believe deep down. This can be illustrated when they get sick and instead of praying to be healed, they run to the hospital and avail themselves of secular medical technology. God has never, ever made somone's amputated limb grow back. I wonder why? The faith healers always claim to be able to heal something that you can't easily prove has been healed or was their doing.

    This is because deep down, people know no matter how much faith you have, you still need an extra $1.49 to get a Big Mac at McDonalds.

    If you don't believe me, try this simple test:

    Wherever you are, stop and hold out your hand. Pray for a Big Mac to suddenly appear out of thin air without anyone else's assistance in the next five minutes. Wait five minutes. Where's your Big Mac? The same place your faith is.

  • It is actually a sort of apology for their behavior!! Intolerant, egotistical, hate filled and bigoted!! Eschewing education, science, evolution works of fiction and much, much more. Christians are the only religion opposing human rights and persecuting gays, pro choice and so much more - but far worse whilst they demand freedom of religion they deny it to all non Christians and persecute them!!!

    They simply cannot understand why nobody believes in a loving god anymore!!
