I'm not looking for any bs. Just straight answers.I lean towards atheism but I can't prove or disprove anything so I just say I don't know for sure one way or the other.Atheism is the logical default. No evidence for God leaves me no choice but to disbelieve in him.Well agnostic means without knowledge, which makes us ALL agnostic, and i lack a belief in a god, so i am both an atheist and an agnostic, calling myself either an agnostic or an atheist would make no difference because they are both true to me.They're not mutually exclusive. One is a statement of belief. The other is a statement of knowledge.I consider myself to be atheist. I do not believe in god so that makes me an atheist.Agnosticism is a subset of atheism.
Anyone who does not accept the claims for a god is an atheist.
Agnosticism pertains only to the amount of certainty one can have.
There are many agnostic atheists, and some agnostic theists
Agnostic theists are the ones who revel in the mystery of their belief.I say I'm agnostic because I am not really sure of anything except I think therefore I am.I'm positive the Judeo-Christian version of 'big daddy god' is total BS, but as far as certain 'forces' or energies that might have been responsible for creating/shaping/controling this reality we've found ourselves in...I'm not so sure they don't exist, and neither are a lot of intelligent people in various scientific and philosophical fields.
So, I suppose I'm an agnostic. My take on religion is that it has taken over the purpose of God. My view and belief system is unbiased, I was raised catholic, and in my 40 years read and listened to lots of deep and probing questions. I find to answer a personal faith based question, firstly take into a simple and smaller context, one that you can relate to and answer with your heart not your head. I believe that God wants for us as his children no matter what path or faith a person has chosen to follow, is for us to be Happy! Just as every parent wants their child to be happy. Im not talking about giving a child what it wants, but what it needs to grow up to have a stable and fullfilling life. So my answer is, if you want to answer your question, then ask youself "does this belief system" make my heart sing or sink? You dont have to follow a religion to find God, he is already in and around you, you have to ask either through prayer or meditation its the same thing, and see what feelings answers you get back. No body on earth can answer what is right for you in this lifetime, as only God knows your divine purpose, which will be different to every person on this website. Just believe in God, ask for his help, and then with a quiet mind, in time you will hear his answer.I am atheist towards the God of Abraham, I am also Agnostic to any GodI consider myself an Agnostic mainly because I HOPE there is a loving caring god and a peaceful afterlife where I can be with friends and family.
But that is as far as I will go with it. I will not tell you that God is a White old man who likes NASCAR and Budweiser and wants you to live your life in a particular way, shape or form or he will make you suffer eternity in pain for non-complience.
The only "evidence" I have ever seen/heard is merely the flapping lips of idiots with an agenda trying to pass mere words and thoughts off as absolute truth.
I will not believe in a god until I see scientific evidence which is accepted by 100% of the scientific community/humanity proving, without even a shred of doubt, that god does exist along with the same kind of proof detailing "his" wishes for us human beings.
Until then....you guys flapping your lips TELLING me who and what god is are just a bunch of fools to be laughed at and mocked.they mean two different things? I dont understand whats puzzling about saying "I don't know" as opposed to "I am certain"...
I'm a strong atheist because I:
a) lack a belief in god.
b) have a positive believe that there is no god.I referred to myself as an agnostic for something like 10 years (Early 30's to early 40's). Since that time, I have referred to myself as atheist (roughly, the last 10 years).
I switched to "agnostic" (from Christian) rather gradually as I (1) lost certainty about the believability of all of the supernatural and (2) embraced the worldview of Buddhism.
I switched to "atheist" when I felt personally confident that science had no place for the supernatural...period. This was a personal conviction, not something science in particular "said" or "did."
It became "obvious" to me that if "God" ever came down and said "here I am -- worship me" it would have to be like the Ori on the Sci-Fi show Stargate SG1.
If you are not familiar with the show, "God" is not technically "God" but rather a superior group of beings whose awe-inspiring power has the ability to force human beings into obedience.
As a result, I am no longer interested in God even if does exist (in the sense of worship, obedience, and that whole ball of wax). Atheism is a perfectly comfortable fit.
I have not found any gods to be agnostic about. Maybe Deism, but then does it really matter?im an atheist on the relitious god because i dont beleive it can possibly exist
im not agnostic on it because i dont consider that i just dont know if he does or does not
so hence, im an atheist not an agnosticHere's a straight answer for you.
If you're a bit of both, you can't logically consider one over the other because they speak of different things.
Atheism: I don't believe in a god.
Agnosticism: I don't claim to know with certainty whether a god exists or not.
Agnostics still have to decide what they believe, because Agnosticism is only the lack of claiming to know for certain. The only kinds of atheists who are NOT agnostics are those claiming to know for certain that there's no god. Which is a positive claim they can't possibly prove, as you can't prove there are no leprechauns. Yet is it likely there are leprechauns? A more reasonable person is open for new data, should there be any in the future.
Me: I don't know, but I don't believe. Absent of evidence, why should I? Which of the over 2000 gods, anyways?I don't really care what you label me. It's the beliefs that matter. I'm technically an agnostic atheist, because while I don't deny the existence of a god to an absolute, I feel there is no evidence to lead me to conclude a god necessarily exists. Therefore, I take the default position of unbelief.I am Atheist, I do not believe there is a God. I don't question whether there is one or not. I don't hold a belief in God, therefore I am Atheist.
I don't claim that it is possible to know that God exists, or doesn't, so I am Agnostic.
One is about belief (or lack of) the other is about knowledge.Because I like being on top. No one has complained about it yet.Like Inanimate Phoenix says.
(Honey, YOU can always be "one over the other!)I consider myself an agnostic atheist actually. They really aren't necessarily mutually exclusive terms although some use agnostic to mean a sort of middle postion between atheism and theism.I consider myself an atheist as opposed to an agnostic because I feel sufficiently persuaded by the available evidence I have observed that, more likely than not, there is no god.
One does not need to be certain in order to be an atheist.I'm Agnostic because while I no longer conform to any religion I do not see any proof that there is not some power higher then myself that created all the wonders of this world and I just can't believe that it all happened by some coincidence.
I do come from a religious background of Catholicism and Judaism and still respect them for the good they do for their communities and all humanity. I don't care to see Christians assuming Atheists will go to hell nor Atheists expressing themselves as the enlightened elitists who believe that anyone who follows any religion or believes in God is an idiot.#If you have any other info about this subject , Please add it free.# |
