What are some good examples of dynamic classical music pieces?
March 18th, 2010Mahler - symphony No.5 - Adagio (3rd Movement)
Chopin - Revolutionary etude
Mozart - Requiem
Verdi - Requiem
On my site you'll find plenty of versatile music by the classical composers and more! Give it a try.

This one starts off slow, but then really takes off(try to disregard the awful B/W video:

Am sure you will recognize this one:

Don't know if you'll be able to use this one or not, but has a most powerful "bass" notes(may want to turn the volume down in places):

Alberich
"New World" Symphony, 4th movement (Antonin Dvorak)

Russian Easter Overture (Rimsky-Korsakov)
Some parts are slow, but there are definitely some good 'dynamic' parts worth considering.

"Antar": Allegro (Rimsky-Korsakov)
The other movements are good as well.
Prelude in G Minor (Sergei Rachmaninov)

A Time to Dance
Childrens March
I recommend works by Hans Zimmer in particular for contrasting dynamics.
Outside of films, then often the German and Russian styles tend to change dynamic more - akin to prokofiev or rachmaninov perhaps.
good luck
