Dynamic Links in Powerpoint
March 18th, 2010The users now want to automatically add hotspots to the Powerpoint Presentation so they can click on the Powerpoint Presentation to optionally get more information. The hotspots would appear in Powerpoint, but would correspond to each line in the Excel Spreadsheet. The additional information for the hotspots exists in the Lotus Notes Database. We could automatically export the additional information into other Excel Spreadsheets. The issue is how to automatically create these dynamic, changing hotspots in Powerpoint. Also how do we specify this hotspot to open another page? All of this would need to be automatic behind a button in Lotus Notes.
Does anyone know the methods I would call to automatically create these dynamic hotspots?
Does anyone know of another way that might work better?
Is there a forum to which I should post that would be better suited for this question?
Thank you for your time and help.

1) First, how easy your idea is going to be to implement depends on your PowerPoint version.
2) By "hot spot", do you mean hyperlink? If so, I would think about setting the hyperlinks in Excel and then doing the import.
Both of those comments aside, I think that this is a question for the VBA gurus in the PowerPoint newsgroup. If you haven't already done so, post it over there. You can access it via Google or your local news server. The newsgroup is called:
microsoft.public.powerpoint
Be sure to let the gurus know what version of PowerPoint and Excel you are using.
Sorry I can't be more help...
