Little Icon

March 16th, 2010
  • I'm new at this.
    Pardon my ignorance.
In a short slide presentation I have put together,
with wav files playing on each slide, I see the
little speaker icon in the center of each slide.
Is there a way to make it invisible?

Todays lunch tip: Hotdogs & sauerkraut.
    Thanks,
    Chef

  • That explanation makes sense!
I'll redo my script and report the results.
Thanks for the tip and I'll name a soup
    after ya!

  • how are you playing the sound??? what activates it?

  • that little icon represents the sounds you inserted. How are you playing the sound if you aren't using the icon?

  • OK! gotcha!
When you set up your time transition, there should have also been the option to Load a Sound. If you scroll to the bottom of the sound files, it lets you choose your own sound file.
In that way, the sound is attached to the slide and you won't get the little icon.
I'm guessing - but you inserted your sound, then in the transition you picked the name of the wav file from the list?

  • Just joined this forum yesterday, but already glad I sent in my initiation fee  .
Some day, perhaps, I'll be able to help others.
    And I will.

    Eat and be well!

  • True, the little icon represents the wav file which is playing,
but it detracts from the visual effect of the slide content.
It would be more visually attractive without the icon in
the center of the picture. Any way to hide it?
    Thanks,

  • I am going to offer an entirely different option...

Instead of using transition sounds, leave it the way you did originally and set up the custom animation so that the sound runs automatically. Now, click once on the sound icon and drag it off the slide. It will still play, but it will not show.

One advantage of this method is that you can still tell at a glance which slides have sounds and which don't.

  • As I said, I'm new at this.
I beleive I embeded the wav file within each slide and they start automatically when the slides change at their timed interval. I don't have to click on anything to get the slides to change or the sound to start.
