Sound for selected slides

March 16th, 2010
  • My first post. I'll try not to be a pest.
In a small six slide presentation I have individual sounds on slides 1, 5 & 6. I want to have a particular wav file play while slides 2, 3 and 4 are on screen without it stoping between slides or starting over as each slide starts. I can't seem to find the way to do it. Can it be done?

  • Yes this can be done. How depends on which version you are using. To do it in PPT 2002 (XP) and later, right click on the sound icon and select custom animation. On the list of animations you should see the name of your sound on the animation list. Click on it and a drop down arrow should appear. Click it and select "Effect options". On the first tab, about 1/2 way down is where you select when you want the sound to stop.

You can also get to this information from Slide Show -> Custom Animation.

(Believe me, it takes longer to type this out than it does to do it.)

If you don't have 2002, you need to use the Slide Show -> Custom Animation options. Post back if you need details on that way, I will have to get it off another machine.
