Updated OS (with SELinux active) doesn't like symbolic links

March 15th, 2010
  • Updated OS (with SELinux active) doesn't like ln (symbolic links), probably due to the SELinux.

I like to keep my database on a separate drive and with SELinux active (which I think is the issue), it doesn't seem to like anything LN'd on a separate drive (database or flat files).

Would changing the location of the database files (in my.cnf) to go to the 2nd drive or will I still have an issue?

  • SELinux isn't ready for prime time yet I suggest recompiling the kernel or deactiving it :p

  • It's all due to SELinux ... seems the 2nd drive isn't scanned to run via "SELinux", so no programs will run/view anything on the 2nd drive.
