  • WHY is drinking water good for the baby?

how beneficial is drinking water for an unborn baby? im 34 weeks..
is it jus so the baby wont be dehydrated or what? though it seems like i have to force myself to drink water, i still do because i know its a good thing, but why

  • Well, I first have to start off by saying that water is the essential resource that all humans need regardless if women are pregnant or not. Or regardless if men are fat or slim. Everybody should be drinking water. Water provides all the nutrients that we humans need as well as your soon-to-be beautiful baby. So, I really can't tell you ALL the benefits of water, but just drink it and nothing else. Water is perfect, it's all I drink. Yes, water quenches everyone's thirst faster than Gatorade or all of the other drinks. I wish I could tell you more but it's SO healthy for you. Trust me. Hope I helped!

  • ITS GOOD TO KEEP YOU HYDRATED AND MAKE LABOUR EASY AND WATER IS PART OF YOUR LIFE 75% OF YOUR BODY NEEDS WATER :] PLZ RATE MY ANSWER

  • Getting dehydrated can cause you to go into preterm labor, water also helps keep you from getting bloated (if you don't get enough your body stores more) and it helps filter everything out for you and the baby.

  • actually, the more water you drink the less water you will retain which means less swelling.

  • Its good cause it cleans out ur kidneys lowers ur blood pressure (if it is high it will create problems and the baby will have malnutrition, it can be a sign of diabetes) u wont be swollen.

  • as i know it's just a myth that people believe (including doctors) that drinking lots of water is good for health in general, but in fact any additional water is flushed out if not needed. The right amount is the amount that keeps you not dehydrated.
it's been even tested on people who drank a lot of water and compared to some who didn't drink at all and depended only water available in food/fruits, the result was both had almost the same amount of liquids on their skins.

  • baby creates amniotic fluid every day and he need you to drink water for that. other wise you not feel very good remember baby takes everything from you and you need to be good also.

  • Drinking enough water (or other fluids) is important for everyone. Our bodies need water to function. If we don't drink enough our kidneys can't flush waste products from our bodies.

If you don't like water, it doesn't HAVE to be all water. Keeping in mind that caffeine is a diuretic (so will cause you to excrete more water), and most juices/soft drinks contain a fair amount of sugar and calories, drink whatever fluids you enjoy.

  • Decreased levels of amniotic fluid can be life threatening for a baby.
A dehydrated mom's body will try to save itself before the baby.
Dehydration can cause many severe health problems.

  • Now that you have a baby on they way your body will be taking in more water.

    1) The baby takes half of what you eat and drink so it can grow.
    2) The best thing to drink is water, it keeps you hydrated and replenished.

  • Theres a lot going on in your body, including the creation of life.

Water is the most important ingredient in life.

    Put two and two together.

  • your animiotic fluid is replenished every 24 hours. SO it's best if you have water in your body to replenish it with.

  • You always need to drink water, but you need extra in pregnancy because your body is making about 50% more blood than normal so it needs the moisture.

  • not sure i want answer for this too

  • it's good because of increase blood count in your body and the water also flushes out the baby's and your system.

  • I am the same way...for me, its been so hard to keep drinking it, but I do. I know its to keep you and the baby hydrated, but I've also read its to help your skin's elasticity when delivering, and to keep you "regular". I wish it weren't so hard for me either and I get really jealous of people who drink it all day long with no problem. I just have never been one to drink a lot of anything at all.

  • False alarm

When you are going into labour, the body produces a hormone called pitocin. This hormone is very similar to another hormone produced when the body is dehydrated. Thus, if you are dehydrated when you are pregnant, your body may mistake the other hormones to be pitocin, and cause your uterus to contract even if you are not going into labour. However, you should get a check up and may be required to take fluids for dehydration.

    Your kidneys will thank you

Your baby in your womb is constantly growing and developing, and pressure on your bladder increases. As a result, some urine remains in your bladder even though you feel you've emptied it. As urine in your bladder can cause bacteria, you should empty it more often, which can only happen when you drink a lot of water. And remember, you should urinate the moment you feel the urge. Don't hold it in.

    Constipation

A majority of women experience constipation and irregular stools when they are pregnant. Iron and vitamin supplements that are taken during pregnancy harden the stool, making it difficult to be passed (in addition to various other factors like hormonal changes etc). Water helps dissolve the stool, reducing chances of constipation.

    Nourishment

Water aids the flow of nutrients to your baby.

    Breastfeeding

When you are breastfeeding your baby you should drink even more water, as breastfeeding makes you thirsty and could dehydrate you if you haven't had adequate water.

    And finallyâ ¦

A twist of lemon in your glass of water is very refreshing, and good for you!
Drink at least 8 glasses of water every single day of your life, and increase this amount when you are pregnant.
Keep a bottle of water handy. If water is accessible at arms length, you tend to drink more.
Avoid any drinks with artificial sweeteners. They're okay once in a while, but don't make a habit of them when pregnant.

  • REALLY THEY JUST TELL YOU THAT SO YOU WONT BE DRINKING A BUNCH OF STUFF THAT IS NOT GOOD FOR YOU, LIKE SODA, AND JUICE, AND OTHER STUFF...WATER IS THE BEST THING TO DRINK TO KEEP YOUR BODY HYDRATE AND ALSO IT HAS NO CALORIES, I LOVE WATER...

  • How is water good for your body and your baby?

    * By flushing out your system, it helps get rid of unnecessary sodium and prevents Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs).
    * It hydrates your body; pregnancy hormones are making you retain water and drinking more water helps fight that.
    * Water facilitates the flow of nutrients through the blood to the baby.
    * Did you know that the amniotic sack replenishes itself every hour, using approximately a cup of water stored in the motherâ ™s body? This protects the baby, so help keep the sack wet!
    * Your blood volume doubles and thickens during the eighth month of pregnancy; drink water to prevent hypertension and cardiovascular diseases.
    * Youâ ™ll have healthier skin and less acne.
    * Drinking eight glasses of water a day helps prevent constipation and hemorrhoids. Trust us, you want to prevent this.
    * Drinking water may alleviate morning sickness (NVP).
    * Drinking water during your third trimester helps prevent premature birth

  • It keeps you hydrated, the baby hydrated, and helps to replenish the amniotic fluid.
